As the name suggests Confirmation is used by the Church as the sacrament that confirms the faith of the Christian.  Church custom has been to use the sacrament as the moment a younger person takes on the commitment of their baptism for themselves.  The sacrament celebrates the gifts of the Holy Spirit as the driving force of our lives.  Any adult entering the Church will receive the sacrament on the occasion of their reception.  For children the age has moved back and forth between primary and secondary school.  At present we offer preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation for children in Yrs 8 & 9 of secondary education.   The course takes place every two years, and is shared between Christ the King and All Saints, our sister parish in Ashbourne.  Application forms for joining the course of preparation will be available from Fr John.  Adult catechists from our parishes are responsible for running the course, aided by Angela Gillespie, our Derby Deanery youth support worker.
